Description
The perfect day trip from Cartagena for bird lovers. Our shuttle will pick you up from your hotel in Cartagena and take you south on the Baru peninsula for about one hour to the world-famous National Aviary, a sanctuary to more than 2,000 birds of approximately 190 species. All you need are your binoculars, a hat, and some mosquito repellent.
Inside the sanctuary, pick from several interpretive walking trails that feature birds from three biozones: tropical rainforest, coastal, and desert. Birds enjoy swamps, lakes, and trees native to their habitat.
Two hours are recommended for walking through the aviary, and then the shuttle will be ready to bring you back to Cartagena by lunchtime.
The shuttle tour has a standard departure time of 8:30 a.m.
